For my final I decided to draw my favorite singer from my favorite band Def Leppard. I was really challenged with the perspective and the shadow under his chin. I had to make it look like it wasn't a beard. I also didn't know what to do for the background so I did a lightning type thing and then a leopard print section. I also decided not to draw his whole shirt and to just do a simple logo on it. I really like how it turned out overall with the perspective too.
Social Issue Project
For this project, we were told to choose a social issue to paint. I chose wallflowers being judged for who they are. I did the background black and white and my flower bright so it could stand out because these kinds of people are known for standing out compared to other people. I took a quote from the movie that says "If somebody likes me, I want them to like the real me. Not what they think I am" which is from the movie The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
Culture Project- Japanese Daruma Doll
For my culture project, I decided on doing something from the Japanese culture. They are called Daruma Dolls which they basically bring good luck. The mean faces usually mean the hard work you are putting in to achieve a goal. You can either do no eyes, one eye, or two eyes and any color you want because all colors mean different positive things. We also had to do a mini project to demonstrate to the class so I decided to draw out a template of the doll and put what the colors mean on a sheet of paper so people could create their own. I actually really enjoyed the process of this project even though I decided to remake it. The colors I chose are white and gold which mean love and hope.
Screen Printing
This project was definitely something new and challenging but I got creative with it and did something in my own style. I think my favorite print was the yellow on black paper because I think it stands out more and gives it a cool vibe.
Final Project (Brad Pitt portrait)
For my final, I decided to do a Brad Pitt portrait. He is probably one of my most favorite actors and he plays in my favorite movie Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. I feel like I struggled with making him look realistic but I didn't think it turned out too bad. I love the value I used in the hair the most.
Digital Art
For this project, we had to make a drawing with a meaning without being straight forward. My drawing was about a friend who is tired of being someone they always vent to but they don't have any other choice but to say okay. I decided for the backgrounds to choose hazy colors with a gradient. The whole color scheme is supposed to give a sad hazy look.
Oil Pastel (Fauvism)
I struggled with the side profile and the value in the face mainly. I finished one complete drawing then decided I could do better and at least try with the value of the face and I really like how it turned out.
Charcoal Up-Close Drawing
For this project I drew cherries. This was a little challenging for me but I feel like it turned out good. Using charcoal was messy but it turned out looking cool.
Sketch Book
I decided to kind of do a sketchbook similar to the one I did in art 1 but kind of change it up a little bit. Instead of sewing the pages in I glued them in with a piece of fabric. I also added a little duck pocket. It doesn't exactly match and that's why I love it.
